Biking & Blading
The Karl Boyes Multipurpose trail travels a flat 13.5-mile loop around the park – it’s perfect for a bike ride, a run or rollerblading.
The trail follows Presque Isle Bay and returns along the lakeside. Many stops along the way offer outdoor exhibits, restrooms and water. The mileage is marked along the trail pavement and plenty of parking is available along the trail.
The park also has a “share the road” policy in place, allowing bikes to use the road with traffic. It is important to obey all the rules of the road for your safety.
Bicycles and surreys – four-wheeled, pedal-driven carts – are available for rental at the Waterworks Pumphouse area. The Yellow Bike Rental Co. is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends during May, September and October. Call 814-835-8900 for more information.
New in 2013 are Segway tours at the park. Trained guides will take up to eight people on four tours a day, starting at 9 a.m., noon, 4:30 p.m. and sunset. The minimum age to participate is 14 and there are weight restrictions. The Segway tours operate out of the same building as the Yellow Bike Rental Co. in the Waterworks area beginning May 25.
