PRESQUE ISLE AND TOM RIDGE CENTER OCTOBER PUBLIC PROGRAMS

Geocache Bash – – Saturday, October 15 – -9:30 a.m.

Use your GPS to navigate your way to the Rotary Pavilion for a special 10 a.m. start.   On the hunt, there will be twelve temporary geocaches and four brand new permanent caches hidden at various places on the par.  Some will be easy to find and others much more difficult.       The   $ 3.00 fee includes a data sheet for recording each cache’s code.  Pre-registration is not needed.  Bring a GPS, a brown-bag lunch and a desire for adventure.

 

Presque Isle after Dark – – Friday, October 21 – – 6:45 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.  `

Join the park’s naturalists for one of three after dark walks along Graveyard Trail to explore the myths and legends of Misery Bay and Graveyard Pond.  The pond is said to be the resting place of over 100 of Commodore Perry’s crew.  The mile long walk will cover these myths and legends plus introduce you to the park’s nocturnal world.  Call 833 7424 for reservations.  This is a free program.

 

TREC or Treat           Saturday, October 29 – – 10 a.m.

Join the staff and volunteers at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center for a day of Halloween fun!  Kids of all ages can enjoy spooky interactive treat stations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  A costume contest will be at 2 p.m., and the trip includes a special free Halloween film on the Big Screen at TREC
