Park Maps

Getting to know the park is key to enjoying Presque Isle. To help with this effort, we have created a series of maps that will hopefully give you all the information you need for Presque Isle.

Interactive Park Map:

We are working on a project to geo-plot every fixed structure on the peninsula. When completed, you will be able to find everything from bathrooms, to beaches and even grills and benches.

Trails Maps:

Looking for a good hike? Our Trails map is your resource. Not only can you find distances and location, but we show you pictures of the trail heads, along with downloadable gps coordinates of the full trails.

Beaches Map:

The park hot spots have their own map. Get a look at amenities are at which beaches and where the beaches are in the park. We are also collecting panoramic pictures of the beaches and videos to give you the big picture to help you select which is the best beach for you.

Tour the Park

Presque Isle is big and that can be daunting for both newcomers and park veterans. To help with this, we have partnered with local author Eugene Ware, who wrote the book "A Walk on the Park." Check out his 20 different walks that take you all around the park and expose both wildlife and scenic views not available on the main roadway. You can also find a link to our Trails guide, which includes all 15 park trails listed with distances and a downloadable GPS coordinates file.

Beaches

Presque Isle has miles -- miles of beaches. Nine of these beaches are open during the summer for swimming. Our beach page will give you a sense of which beach is best for you. Many of the beaches have restrooms nearby and a few have concessions as well. Check out our beach map for a complete list of amenities and eventually panoramas of the beaches so you can see before you choose.

Wildlife

Because of the diversity of ecological zones at Presque Isle State Park, many different species of plants and wildlife inhabit the park from the shoreline to the climax forest. Over 320 species of birds have been recorded on Presque Isle; at least 39 of these are listed as species of special concern.

Pets

Presque Isle State Park is a very pet-friendly park. But that doesn't mean your Fido can go anywere and you don't have to clean up after him. Check out the best places on the park to walk your puppy so that both he and you are focused on having fun and not bothering other people.

Picnic Shelters

Shelters

There are a number of covered options available at the park for your picnic or gathering. The choices range from day-use shelters to pavilions and the Cookhouse, which has an indoor food-prep area. Be sure to make your choices quick because reservations are on a first-come basis.

Tom Ridge Environmental Center

Before heading into the park -- or on your way out -- be sure to stop at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. It's at the top of the hill across from Waldameer Park. It's the official start of Presque Isle State Park and home to exhibits, information, cafe, gift shop and a tower with one of the best views of Presque Isle.
